This article is a text written in displacement, through displacement and about
displacement. To write in displacement means to assume movement as a key concept for

thinking, and that is what we will try to do so here. These words were forged in touch with
a current research about the relation between travel and education (in its most original

sense, ex-ducere, or «to bring out»), based on some Deleuze and Guattari’s concepts
alongside with readings on Blanchot, Foucault, Calvino and some other writings on

difference. Besides, is a text made for an impulse presentation on a meeting about the
                                              152
Philosophical Body in Rhodes . In that sense, it is a text marked by a huge displacement
itself, since it was written on a travel – not only in space (some of these words were turned

into ink on paper in Rio de Janeiro and many others in Greece) but also in time (assuming
that the travel modified the conclusions of the considerations started here, and more than
that, remembering that Rio is a city that is 450 years old, very recent compared to Athens,

for an example, that is older than the written history – bringing up to date the antique

                   separation between the «new world» and the «old world»).

In this sense, what we are going to do here is to present some ideas concerning the
rhizomatic relation between school, travel and the body, relating it to some key concepts

and through some travel reports try to operate some thinking that is becoming-travel,
which means, try to make the reader becoming-traveler. At the end, we hope to have

presented 3 important ideas for that purpose: a) the body of the traveler and the feeling
of vertigo; b) the relation between language, transcendence and immanence; c) the

possibility of a thinking body and the idea of map overlaying.

The body of the traveler and vertigo

The current research from witch the ideas that base this text come from is an argument
that refers the school (or the categories that are used to think the school) to the travel (or

the categories from what the travel can be thought). It aims to build an idea of a «travel-
school», which means a school where time and space can be thought through a plane of

immanence. To think the body within this school that is travel it is important to go through
some concepts and to make some ideas clearer.
